ĊineXjenza: Fish, Food & Filth

27 April 2021 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Did you know that almost half of all food produced is wasted? Development of the food industry began in the 1900s. The industry plays an important role in public health, food safety, food security, social development, and nutrition.

CineXjenza has invited three experts to discuss their insights about the food industry ranging from economical and environmental sustainability of local produce, slow food movements, food waste, seafood consumption and sustainability. These researchers will be talking about what the food industry is all about at 7PM, 27th April 2021.

In this online event, each speaker will give short presentations using film clips from the series Friends to raise a discussion around the topic.

Our guest speakers include Dr. Karen Mugliett who is a Senior Lecturer at the Faculty of Education at the University of Malta and also the Chairperson of the Food Safety Commission.  Our second speaker is Kurt Mifsud, the Chief Executive Officer at the Mediterranean Culinary Academy, and finally Dr Margaret Camilleri Fenech, who is a lecturer at the University of Malta, Institute for Climate Change and Sustainable Development and is also working on her PhD studying how to decoupling of waste generation from economic growth.

ĊineXjenza is supported by the STEAM project. It is run by the S-Cubed and the Malta Chamber of Scientists with the support of Spazju Kreattiv.
