Farmor

20 March 2020 - 19 April 2020
Presented online Some say home is somewhere in the past; others say home is in other people; and for others, home is within. Home was once a very concrete and grounded place, and now, in this age of hypermobility and migration, it can be everywhere, and nowhere. What are the factors that make us feel like we belong? The FARMOR Project is an investigation into notions of home, a quest to deepen our understanding of belonging, by artists Florinda Camilleri (MT), Marie Keiser-Nielsen (DK) and Niels Plotard (FR). By making space for reflection and conversations around contemporary notions of home and belonging, it aims to showcase myriad perspectives of these notions, giving participants and audiences insight into their own sense of belonging.     The project was developed in Aarhus, Denmark, in August 2019, under the Connections 3.0 choreographic residency of the Performing Arts Platform. The second phase is happening in Valletta, Malta, as part of the Spazju Kreattiv program of activities. It is supported by the Research Support Grant of Arts Council Malta. Within the Valletta Series, the team has adapted to working within a global pandemic, where conversations around home and belonging are more valuable than ever. Text artist Manuela Zammit (MT) has joined the team to illustrate findings and support in dissemination of results through online platforms. The final performance of this phase will be a sound experience that will be streamed on Sunday 19th April 2020.
