Date and time
Wednesday 10th November 2021, 7pm

Malta Suffers from one of the highest rates of diabetes in Europe.

One costly symptom of the disease is diabetic foot ulcers which are highly susceptible to infection and lead to over 100 amputations a year in Malta. Prof Joseph Borg has a stellar solution to aid diabetics: conduct an experiment on the International Space Station (ISS). As part of Project Maleth, the toughest bacterial strains will be tested for genetic mutations in efforts to give patients accurate ideas of how the disease will affect them. Prof. Borg’s experiment is the first Maltese presence on the ISS, launching the nation into a new era of involvement in space.
