Fusing Poetry – Dance – Flamenco

Venue: Theatre (St James Cavalier) PoesiaFlamenca is a fusion of Spanish dance and contemporary flamenco with Maltese poetry through a journey of expressing the true ‘soul’ – the ‘alma’ of flamenco – and where dancers and poets share ideas, fusing their arts together in order to reflect the profundity and emotions of their art forms. The dancers explore different fields of Spanish dance and work together in their respective fields of flamenco and contemporary dance, and as a result develop innovative creations which are reflective of the development of flamenco. Every dance is based on the exploration of the definition of Flamenco, together with a particular expression that complements the poet’s thought. A variety of traditional ‘palos’, or flamenco rhythms, as well as novel concepts and music will be explored by the dancers – culminating in a production which is rich in rhythm, musical variety, holistic expression of emotions, colour, vibrancy and passion.Creative Team
