Heiner Müller – Contemporary theatre – Euro-skepticism
Dates and Times: Thursday 14 January 2016, 8.00PM Friday 15 January 2016, 8.00PM Saturday 16 January 2016, 8.00PM
Venue: Theatre (St James Cavalier)“my thoughts are wounds in my brain. My brain is a wound. I WANT TO BE A MACHINE!! Arms to grasp legs to walk no pain no thoughts…” (Heiner Müller)
Inspired and based on the texts of German playwright, Heiner Müller, this contemporary performance tells the story of five people coming from different backgrounds, who are rather disappointed in the European reality and all express a wish to become a machine – a mutual wish which is evident in their thoughts. This production brings together sound design and literary experience in a ‘montage’ style, not typically seen in Maltese theatre productions. Ambitiously, the performance aims to develop a new niche for theatre-goers looking to experience more than the traditional type of theatre in a context where the dominant element of production is literature. Aleksovski’s project, however, aims to open more than just a niche into theatre practice, but a gateway, in fact, for exchange between artists, and thematic education for the local community. https://youtu.be/y_uRZWRjT6MCreative Team
